Liverpool 2-1 Spurs

Not many people would have thought that 12 games in, Jose Mouriniho's side would be sitting top of the league, beating nearly everyone that gets in their way, and visiting Anfield against the champions where a win would send them quite a few points clear, but then again this is 2020, anything can happen!
After last weekends poor 1-1 draw against Fulham, Liverpool made just the one change as Matip returned from injury to replace Rhys Williams. Spurs also looked to bounce back after a 1-1 draw against Palace, in a match they really should have won. They made 2 changes, with the main talking point being Ben Davies coming into the side to replace summer signing Sergio Reguilon.
After quite a nervy start for both teams, Mo Salah continued his fine form this season, after his strike from the edge of the box deflected off Toby Alderweirld, and went spiralling into the top corner, a complete freak goal. Spurs didn't take long to respond, 4 minutes later, a typical fast paced counter attack saw Lo Celso slip through Son, who never looked like missing as he placed the ball perfectly into the near corner. Liverpool ended the half with more chances , but Hugo Lloris denied them over and over going into half time.
It was Spurs who came out the much better side after half time, Steven Berjgwin had 2 huge chances, one was put wide and the other hit the post, both from the same position. Harry Kane then had the best chance of the lot, a free header from no more than 6 yards out, but his header into the ground bounced over. In the 90th minute, Spurs were left to rue their chances as an Andrew Robertson corner was headed home perfectly by Roberto Firmino to give Liverpool all 3 points.
Liverpool now make it 66 games unbeaten at home, and go 3 points clear at the top of the league. Spurs on the other hand will feel hard done by, getting nothing out of a game in which they had some great chances to take the lead. Spurs face a tough side in Leicester next week, where anything but a win could certainly kill off any title challenging hopes.
